Hunter Land Management was established in 2000, by Daniel Lewer, and has focused its work on riparian and land management projects in the Hunter Valley, Central Coast, Hawkesbury Nepean and Central West Catchments.
In early 2005, HLM completed the Priority Rivercare Planning and Implementation Contract for the Hunter Central Rivers Catchment Management Authority (HCRCMA). This was one of the first commercial contract implemented by the HCRCMA and was worth over $240,000. This project saw over 60 projects completed on private properties throughout the Hunter Valley which included over 15 kilometres of riparian fencing, 45,000 native tubestock planted and 95 kilometres of Rivercare Plans.
Hunter Land Management received wide spread recognition and acknowledgment for this project. This culminated with the business receiving a Highly Commended Award at the 2005 Newcastle and Hunter Environmental Achievement Awards.
Hunter Land Management has recently achived the Fastest Growing Award for 2009 in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Category. This award was achieved by completing projects in the highest business and professional standard by all involved in HLM. During the 2008/2009 Financial Year, HLM increased its business profits and staff substantially, which was the main contributer to this highly prestigiou award. Hunter Land Management strive to excel in the environmental field of works and aims to achieve more awards such as the Fastest Growing Award 2009, and the BEC Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards 2006 + 2005 for Environmental Excellence.
