HLM announces MOU with Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation

HLM has been working over the last 6 months with the Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation based at Singleton to develop a Memorandum of Understanding to work jointly on land management projects throughout the Hunter Valley. The program is structured such that HLM will provide the project management, equipment and on-ground supervision to Ungooroo staff looking to build their experience and skills in the land management industry.

Incorporated into the MOU is an IEP (Indigenous Employment Program) where HLM will be taking on 5 indigenous trainees under Ungooroo’s supervision/mentoring over a 26 week period helping them achieve a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management whilst providing experience in the field. This will provide the trainees with a stepping stone into a potential career in the industry with HLM or alternative land management companies.

The IEP is scheduled to commence in early 2012 from which time HLM clients can expect to see these trainees on site with our experienced staff and specialised equipment.

This will be a work in progress and your feedback and suggestions will be keenly sought during the program with an aim to repeat and improve the process to create a solid pathway for the indigenous community into the land management industry.

If you have any questions or comments or want more information on services we can provide with this enhanced labour force on your site – please don’t hesitate to contact HLM.

We will be demonstrating the operation of the Yamaha Rmax Unmanned Ariel Vehicle (UAV).

This UAV has many capabilities including weed spraying in difficult terrain, mine sites and aquatic areas. Aerial seeding, precision agriculture and variable rate dispersal.

We will also have on display information about our services and specialised equipment for all land management purposes.

We would love to see you there!

Fresh Website

We are excited to have launched our new and updated website. The site has been designed to showcase Hunter Land Management’s services, staff, equipment, expertise and history.

Please take the time to browse through the rest of the site and be sure to check back regularly to keep up to date with any new innovations, equipment and achievements at HLM.

Appointment of QSafe Manager

In July 2011, HLM appointed Tom Brideson as QSafe Manager to manage and further develop HLM’s OH&S systems. The appointment of this full-time position demonstrates HLM’s commitment to maintaining and improving upon our existing standards of quality and safety.

Tom’s role will involve further development of HLM’s policies and procedures, ensuring all OH&S project paperwork complies to legislative requirements and providing a framework for HLM staff to undertake their work in an efficient, effective and safe manner.

New Equipment

HLM recently purchased a Kubota 4×4 Diesel RTV900 (pictured below). This multi-purpose vehicle will be used for remote spraying works where regular 4WD access is not possible and is also perfect for property mapping where it can be fitted with a GPS unit and is able to access all terrains.

Priority Rivercare Planning and Implementation

In early 2005, HLM completed the Priority Rivercare Planning and Implementation Contract for the Hunter Central Rivers Catchment Management Authority (HCRCMA). This was one of the first commercial contracts implemented by the HCRCMA and was worth over $240,000.

The project saw over 60 projects completed on private properties throughout the Hunter Valley including installation of over 15 kilometres of riparian fencing, 45,000 native tubestock planted stretching over 95km of river frontage.
