Hunter River Rehabilitation Project
Scope of Works:Hunter Land Management over the past 2 years has been Project Manager and contracted by the above organisations to utilise its specialisation in environmental revegetation and maintenance on the Hunter River in Singleton NSW. This project has involved: - noxious and environmental weed removal and control - liasion with landholders in regards to scope of works - planting over 10,000 plants to date
The main focus of this large scale project, is to maintain and re-establish the native vegetation along the 11.5km of river bank by the means of environmentally friendly revegetation. This project also see's large organisations contribute to local projects with an overall positive environmental perspective within the community. Funds contributed by these organisations have enabled this project to be the success it has become, funds have enabled plants to be purchased, planted, maintained, weeds controlled and the natural River Bank ecosytems restored. Continued funding will see this project exceed expectations. To Date:11.5km of river bank has been scoped to be revegetated, to which 3.5km has been successfully achieved (Feb 2010) with the majority of these works being completed on private landholdings. Consultation and liaise with the private landholders has enabled methods of works to be utilised. Works completed have included: - McCulloch Property - Civic Park - Merrick Park - Rose Point/Cook Park Works completed involved utilising Hunter Land Managements competent and trained staff in Environmental Rehabilitation, CVA trainees undertaking field work to complete Conservation & Land Management Certificates. Works at these locations have seen herbicide and manual control of Willows,Green Cestrum, and various other weeds. Planting of Native Trees along with maintenance such as Watering and herbicide spraying has enabled these plants to establish and thrive in the area. Below is a Map of the Scoped Works completed and to be commenced. Hunter Land Management is proud to have achieved to date the areas revegetated which over a short time period has seen establishment of the local native vegetation.
