HLM announces MOU with Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation

HLM has been working over the last 6 months with the Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation based at Singleton to develop a Memorandum of Understanding to work jointly on land management projects throughout the Hunter Valley. The program is structured such that HLM will provide the project management, equipment and on-ground supervision to Ungooroo staff looking to build their experience and skills in the land management industry.

Incorporated into the MOU is an IEP (Indigenous Employment Program) where HLM will be taking on 5 indigenous trainees under Ungooroo’s supervision/mentoring over a 26 week period helping them achieve a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management whilst providing experience in the field. This will provide the trainees with a stepping stone into a potential career in the industry with HLM or alternative land management companies.

The IEP is scheduled to commence in early 2012 from which time HLM clients can expect to see these trainees on site with our experienced staff and specialised equipment.

This will be a work in progress and your feedback and suggestions will be keenly sought during the program with an aim to repeat and improve the process to create a solid pathway for the indigenous community into the land management industry.

If you have any questions or comments or want more information on services we can provide with this enhanced labour force on your site – please don’t hesitate to contact HLM.

This project is sponsored/funded/supported by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations through the Indigenous Employment Program.’
